To those facing Divorce
May 5, 2020Loneliness means more than just being alone and left all by yourself. One can be in a crowd, among people even in the midst of family and still be lonely. On the other hand too, one can be lonely courtesy of being left all by yourself. I remember traveling for a friend’s wedding several years ago only to arrive their earlier than my all friends. The faces I saw there were all unknown and unfriendly and even my friend whose wedding I came for did not come out to meet me till I had spent 3 hours all by myself. That of course is a different category of being lonely.
Loneliness becomes a problem when it is beyond a short moment of time. When it stretches to days, weeks, months and such that nothing around is comforting anymore. For the one who is lonely, most times it results in seeing the things we do not have rather than the things that God has blessed us with. People look around them and they complain of who has left them and what is lacking in their lives and what is going wrong around them. That is a wrong attitude.
When we look at the word of God and note the promises of God to us, what had God said to us about our lives? The problem with a lot of Christians is that they focus more on the senses, on the things happening around them and very little attention to the Spirit and to the word of God. The word of God created us and the Spirit realm is much more real than the earthly physical realm. Hence our first consciousness should be the Spiritual realm which is the realm of the word of God.
Gods word has said to us, there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother – Proverbs 18:24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. The word is describing our Heavenly Father and his great love to us. When we consider the words of Jesus how that he promised never to leave nor forsake us, we are encouraged and strengthened no matter what is happening around us.
Ask yourself, What are the things that I have? What are the things that God has given me? Like the song writer who said to count ones blessings and name them one by one. The enemy always wants to keep us feeling despondent and sad and depressed and down whereas the bible enjoins us to Rejoice Evermore and to give thanks in everything (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) he said, this is the will of God concerning us in Christ Jesus.
No matter what is going on around you, God does not want you feeling lonely, depressed or sad, look around you, identify the things that God has done for you, those things are signs that God is with you and he will never leave you.
