To the Bereaved
May 5, 2020To those facing Divorce
May 5, 2020Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mathew 11:28 KJV) It is not impossible for life to deal us blows once in a while. Perhaps the loss of a loved one, or one gets fired at work, or some other form of misfortune can hit making life to feel totally unbearable.
Pain and hurt can be a part of life. Jesus told us that in the world there would perplexity of nations, famines, troubles, men’s hearts failing them for fear. But he also told us that in him we will have peace. The Apostle Paul equally shed more light on this in his second letter to the Corinthians.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. (2 Corinthians4:8-11 KJV)
In other words trouble, pain and hurt are no new things to God. He knew that it will be part of our life on earth, why? because we don’t really belong here. We are pilgrims on earth. This is why the Holy Spirit was sent by the father to be with us always. That regardless of what we face, regardless of what comes our way, we are fully assured of the help, comfort and the presence of the Holy Spirit in all that we do.
Regardless of what you are facing today, the bible shows us where help comes from. Jesus says, come into me and receive rest. Come and receive comfort in me. No matter how heavy the pain or hurt is, Jesus says come and receive my rest. We have a high priest that is moved by our feelings of infirmity. The bible even tells us that Jesus Himself was tempted in every way as we are. So in our hurting moments, in times when we are in hurt and pain, remember that the father sent someone to us to help us, to be with us. Receive the love of God, receive the comfort of God.
Refuse to let anger or resentment build up within you when a bad thing comes your way, remember that God says he has thoughts of good and not of evil for us, to lead us to an expected end. In your hurt. In your pain, lift up her heart towards God and reassure yourself as Gods word says that all things work together for good to them that love God. It may not look that way but we can trust God, he is the almighty and he is the one at work in us. It is well.
