How to Accept Jesus Christ!

May 5, 2020The decision to follow Jesus Christ is one that comes with reciprocal decision to adhere strictly to the lifestyle of the calling. You don’t just say I believe in Jesus and still continue with the lifestyle you were leading before you got saved. Having been saved, God says we must ‘grow’ in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In other words, getting born again is the first step into a whole new life in which God expects you to live and to grow.
God’s word is not in the dark as to how a godly lady must live her life as a follower of Jesus Christ. Yes, the Bible says that in Galatians 3:28; There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. But God does not ignore that in our world, there are male and female creatures. Hence what he means in saying there is neither male nor female in Christ means that there is no barricade to the access we have in God. We all have equal rights to the benefits of the death and resurrection of Christ and the gospel as a whole.
In dealing with one another, Gods word states how a lady must comport herself. The Apostle Peter wrote this in his letter to the Church.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. (1 Peter3:1-6 KJV)
Through the Apostle Peter God is saying, this is the manner of lifestyle God expects of you. Have a character that is lowly and representative of the gospel of Christ. He says for ladies (married and unmarried) to focus more on developing their Spiritual life and walk with God and not on the fuss many are running after today. A lot of ladies today are more concerned with the latest trends in fashion, sex and worldly lifestyles and nothing directed to developing their Spirits. God says this is unacceptable for one who has decided to follow Jesus Christ.
This reminds me of how Job described his wive’s words after she encouraged him to curse God and die. Look at Job’s response.
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he (Job) said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (Job2:9-10 KJV)
God doesn’t want you to be a foolish woman as Job described above. In other words, God sees a woman who has no reverence for Spiritual things as a foolish woman. So God says, develop your Spirit. Develop a meek and quiet Spirit. Develop a fervent and prayerful lifestyle. In Apostle Peter’s letter, he mentions Sara who was Abraham’s wife. God said, copy her meekness, copy her lowliness, copy her devotion to her husband and to God.
