To those Searching
May 5, 2020To The hurting
May 5, 2020The loss of a loved one is a terrible experience. For the one who died, if they are saved, they are better off as they are in a better place. However it is not that easy for those who are left here on earth to mourn their passing. Be it a friend, a spouse, parent, child or just an acquaintance, death of such one is not easy to bear.
The bible says death is an enemy; The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him (1 Corinthians15:26-27 KJV) and the bible tells us of the end of death; And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death (Revelation20:14 KJV). This is the predestinated end of death. So God’s word acknowledges that death is an enemy of God and of his people.
For those bereaved, who are suffering under the painful pangs of death, God’s word of comfort abounds. When Jesus walked on earth, he promised his disciples that when he goes away, the father will send them a comforter, one who will be with them forever. In other words, the source of all comfort has been sent to us, to comfort us in all our troubles and all we could go through.
The Apostle Paul explained this further in his second letter to the Corinthians. It was obvious that the Corinthian church was in troubles, perhaps a number of people were suffering or were bereaved because he addressed the issue of death in the closing chapters of the first letter so it not surprising he started this second letter with those words of comfort.Ai??Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (2 Corinthians1:3-5 KJV). Here he calls our Almighty father the God of all comfort. He is the one who comforts us in all our troubles.
As children of God living in this world, we could face such troubles as death of a loved one, our duty is not to query God for letting it happen but to receive his comfort. We may never understand everything that happens around us but we can lift up our eyes in faith and trust to the God who has thoughts of good not of evil for us. He promised us an excepted end, we can trust that.
If you are hurting today, mourning the loss of a loved one, my prayer for you is that the God of all comfort will comfort you even at this time. All is well
